Concept

Nantou Milk Tea is a canned milk tea brand named after Nantou County, Taiwan, known for its unique tea plantations. With milk tea gaining popularity in the US and customers wanting transparency in their food and drink, Nantou Milk Tea aims to appeal to young adults aged 20s to mid-30s familiar with milk tea.

Approach

Using IvyMode, a flared sans, in the company's logo crest, gives an aura of modern elegance to the brand through its dramatic contrast and moderate angled stress. The simplicity of the illustrations and white space used furthers Nantou Milk Tea's sophistication.

Process

There is a stark difference between the refrigerated beverage section of American grocery stores and Asian grocery stores. American beverages have been more minimal design lately, guiding the customer to exactly what they want them to read first. Asian beverages tend to have lots of layers to the design, use multiple fonts, and meant to be looked at as a whole. This is reflected back in cultural psychology between analytic and holistic thinking. Given Nantou Milk Tea is an Eastern product being sold in the West, the solution was to find something that was both simple and harmonious.

Can Design

Nantou Milk Tea sought after a can design that is elegant and easy to read. The company's logo is a crest consists of oat leaves and winter plum, the national flower of Taiwan.

Merchandise

The company expands its brand through using the brand pink and flower illustration in a new way while still feeling unified with the brand with the brand voice and typeface.
